This is the Rocky Horror Sundae from Eastlake Harvester in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
We enjoyed an early bird two course dinner as a family here today. The early bird menu costs £7.99 for a main meal from their set menu and either a starter or a dessert.
It’s a chain branch of Harvester so it’s far from fine dining. We both had the Classic Gourmet Beef Burger with fries. It was average at best but remembering our surroundings I can’t judge too harshly.
I do want to note that our poor waitress seemed to be the only person serving the entire (large) dining area. I did feel for her and because of this there was a few waits and pauses and hiccups on the salad bar/sauce bar/bread station, although she can’t be held accountable for the cooking of the main meals!
Cleanliness is definitely something I’d like to see addressed more closely here. We have visited before and know they are better than what we saw today.
As you may have guessed from the title, I opted for a dessert over a starter. The Rocky Horror Sundae carried a supplement of £1 but as the only other option was plain ice-cream with a choice of sauce and wafer, this £1 was definitely well spent.
As you can see from the photo, the rocky horror sundae is huge!
A mound of whipped cream, ice-cream and warm chocolate brownie. Decorated on top with fudge pieces and a cherry. (The flake photographed was gifted to me from my toddler’s ice-cream and doesn’t come as standard with this particular sundae).
The brownie was a touch powdery and felt like it was more crumbs than brownie pieces, but on the whole it was pleasant and the kind of sweet treat you’d imagine.
Will I visit again? At those prices, a toddler who ate his whole plateful of chicken strips, fries and beans AND then an ice-cream without any fuss, I think it’s probably likely. Will I enjoy it and rave about it? Maybe the ice-cream.
