NEED SOME SUMMER INSPO ON HOW TO REVIVE A FAVOURITE OUTFIT FOR THE NEW SEASON? READ ON…
Summer is fast approaching and whilst it’s appealing to dispose of one’s entire wardrobe and start afresh, sometimes all we need is just to inject a fresh accessory into the mix for a brand new look.
Here’s my top five must buys in partnership with intu Milton Keynes to ensure I am summer ready without creating a complete wardrobe catashtrophe.
1. CONVERSE PINK CHUCK TAYLOR CANVAS HI TOPS £50 SPOTTED AT SCHUH / intu MK
First off. Converse, if you happen to read this, these hi tops are PURPLE not PINK to anyone who isn’t a cotton-headed ninny muggins but that colour confusion aside these trainers are absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
Converse hi tops are rarely ever off my feet (standard black) but this summer I would love to change up some of my looks with a blast of vibrant summery colour without losing my signature style. These trainers will do that by the bucket-load. I need them. Now, please.
2. SUN GORILLA PERFUME £24/30ML SPOTTED AT LUSH / intu MK
I can’t think of a nicer way of preparing my outfit along with my mind and soul for summer than a scent inspired by sunshine itself.
Gorilla fine fragrances (perfumes to you and me) are a part of the Lush family I have yet to fully explore. However, 2017 is definitely the year I’m changing that for the better.
Brazilian orange oil (YASS!), mimosa absolute and sandalwood oil come together in Sun perfume, promising to put a smile on your face and help concur up images of sunny memories that will lift your spirits, much like a ray of sunshine. If you’ve not smelt it before, you MUST head to Lush and give it a spritz!
Lush MK employee Lucia kindly showed me the amazing result of mixing Sun with fellow perfume Vanillary. It’s a summery, scrummy cocktail!
FYI – Mark, one of the founders of Lush created this fragrance whilst dreaming of warmer climates. Something I’m sure we all do in Britain when the summer fails to live up to expectations!
3. MERCER LARGE LEATHER SATCHEL £340 SPOTTED AT MICHAEL KORS / intu MK
A new bag injects fresh life into my style and what better time for fresh looks than with summer fast incoming.
A huge statement bag like the Mercer Large Satchel is not only eye-grabbing and totally functional for a busy mum of two like me. There’s plenty of room for muslins, baby wipes, sun cream and even my laptop for blogging on the go.
I really love the pinky fawn colour of the leather. An understated colour that will suit me for super fancy outfits and daytime casual. Even Mr LouBou wouldn’t cringe over the colour if I asked him to carry it for me! Without committing to an in your face spring/summer shade, this still shuns the deeper colours of winters and is perfect for the sunshine.
4. BLACK SUNGLASSES £75 SPOTTED AT KAREN MILLEN / intu MK
Nothing screams summer for me more than sunglasses. It’s not just a fashion thing but a survival thing. A shield I can put up to protect my eyes and help me cope with the awful hay fever that makes my days itchy and annoying from late April onwards.
But necessity aside, for me sunglasses have to be black and they have to be timeless. These Karen Millen frames hit the nail on the head perfectly.
I love the chunky black frames but also the slender delicate arms which don’t overpower my face.
5. RULE SUEDE MULES IN MUSTARD £52 SPOTTED AT TOPSHOP / intu MK
As much as I wish I could, would, should. My converse aren’t suited to all occasions. I think these heeled mules in mustard yellow from Topshop are the perfect heel for me this summer.
They’re smart but colourful enough to add a playful summer edge to an outfit. The structured and solid shape mean I don’t have to worry about straining my feet (like how I fear some flimsy non-supportive sandals would, which are always rife at this type of year).
The mules have a decent sized peep toe and a padded sole so they are super comfortable!
