Come join the road trip to end all road trips 🌈
What are the ingredients for the best road trip of your life?
Well it needs the best songs, ones that you can really sing along to at the top of your lungs. CHECK! ✅
It needs a purpose. It needs something waiting at the end of the trip, bigger than any pot of gold. ✅
It needs good company. A mix of too much of the same personality and you’ll end with boredom. What’s best is a good medley that compliments and contrasts you all. ✅
Something fabulous to travel in. ✅
..now strap yourself in for the ride of your life!
But first, babes, let me at least get into the theatre…
As I was tottering up to it last night, look what I spotted! There’s some epic new signage going up! It’s definitely going to help people spot the theatre in its tucked away position from the roadside. Looking goooood MKT! 😍
Let’s allow the fabulous Milton Keynes Theatre to steal thunder from Priscilla for a just a moment, it’s OK, she’s probably having a mechanic look her over, maybe topping up her oil. 😁
On the 4th October (this Friday) Milton Keynes Theatre will celebrate their 20th birthday! 🥳🥳🥳
We raised a glass of fizz and munched cupcakes in their name,
Happy freaking Birthday!!! 🖤
But back to the evenings entertainment.. and oh boy after fizz and frosting, were we getting in the mood for it.
Even Madonna was playing in the theatre before the show started (original Madonna!!). This was a mood in itself.
The story is set in Australia, so of course, Kylie is queen. Don’t you dare say Jenner! 👸🏼
Join the three main ladies, two drag queens and one transgender, as they leave behind the city for the outback.
One of the drag queens, Tick/Mitzi (Joe McFadden) is being called back home, to a past where his straight wife and child are living without him. The child is six and asking to meet him for the first time.
Will his son accept him for who he really is? How can he even begin to start to explain it to a child? Well, for sure, he can’t do it alone.
So, with a new drag gig in the unknown desert lands booked, it’s time to christen their clapped out old bus ride PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT and start their journey.
This is not going to be just a short drive to McDonalds.
It’s two hours and twenty minutes of absolute tunes, huge laughs, even bigger personalities and real lgbt+ issues that we all need to listen up and hear.
Songs as big as the wigs on their heads, you’ll hear the biggest classics I WILL SURVIVE, HOT STUFF and IT’S RAINING MEN (sorry Geri, not your one!) this calls for the full diva outing.
The three diva singers who sing most of the numbers alongside the cast are queens! Look at them (below) they sound incredible.
Expect slick choreograph, queens galore, lips wobbling and a very, very enjoyable show.
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is here in MK and while the road may have bumps, darling, they are the reason the journey is so worth it.
Who’s ready to go see it?!
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is at Milton Keynes Theatre 30 September – 5 October 2019.
For full transparency, tickets to the show were kindly gifted to me from Milton Keynes Theatre.
