With November now in full swing, the impending arrival of Christmas and all it ensures is hard to ignore. This week I drove down Stony Stratford High Street to witness a big group of people erecting the Christmas lights high above the pavements of one of MK’s beloved market towns and it did give me a little buzz of excitement. What is prettier on a dark winters night than seeing your local high street alight with the colours from strings of lights and decorations? How about witnessing the official switch on? When hundreds upon thousands of local people flock out in the cold, with smiles from ear to ear to countdown a very traditional starting point for the festive season.
Here is my guide to the Christmas Light Switch On events in Milton Keynes for 2016:
It may only be the 11th November but now that I’m a parent, I’m older and just ardently more organised (or try to be), you might understand why I’m all for getting the Christmas show on the road asap.
I know, I know. The Summer Holidays are barely finished, school uniforms still have their tags on and pencil cases look pristine but we have important Christmas business to attend to. Winter. Is. Coming.
If you are local to the Milton Keynes area then you know that Frosts Garden Centre in Woburn Sands put on the most wonderful Santa’s Grotto experience with the REAL SANTA (he might as well be, he always looks AMAZING).
Frosts Grotto is always a popular event with many of the best dates selling out months in advance. Frosts have been on social media this evening to announce tickets for the 2016 Grotto will go on sale on Friday 2nd September. That’s THIS FRIDAY!
So, here’s your heads up if you didn’t know! Put it in your diary. Set your phone alarm. Write it on your partner’s face. If you want access to the best dates and times to take your little elves to the best Grotto in town this winter then Friday is your best chance.
ALSO On Frosts Facebook Page RIGHT NOW they are running an amazing competition worth over £850 to win the whole Santa’s Grotto experience on Sunday 11th December for you and twenty guests, with cooked breakfast and a visit to their real ice skating rink too. Now that is surely worth an entry.
I’m sorry for bringing up Christmas when August is still alive and well but from one parent to another, these bits of Christmas prep are essential if you want to plan and budget ahead. Lots of love!
